Can Your AI Notetaker Show Every Meeting With One Client in One Place?

Published6 min read

Granola, Fathom and Driffle can all show you the calls you have had with one company. They disagree on which calls count. Granola and Fathom decide from the calendar invite and email domains, so the internal call where you planned the renewal never shows up. Here is how each one decides, what Driffle does differently, and a five minute check to run before you rely on it.

The short answer

Yes, several tools now have a page per company that lists your meetings with them. Granola has People and Companies views. Fathom lets you click a company logo on its Team Calls tab. Driffle has a Companies view, currently marked beta.

The part that matters is how each tool decides a meeting belongs to a client. Granola and Fathom decide from the calendar invite: who was on it and what email domain they used. Driffle decides from what was said in the meeting. Those two rules produce different histories for the same client, and the difference shows up exactly when you need the page most, the night before a renewal or an escalation.

How Granola and Fathom decide a call belongs to a client

Granola's help page says people and companies are extracted from your calendar events when you create notes. When you start Granola from a calendar event, it pulls the attendee list and enriches it with job titles and company details. Click a company and you see every note that includes them, and you can use Granola Chat focused on that company. The same page lists the limits: you cannot add people or companies by hand, and someone will not appear if they were not on the invite, if the note was not started from a calendar event, or if they declined the invite.

Fathom's help center says the company name on a call comes from attendee email domains. It checks the external calendar organizer first, then external attendee domains, then counts guest domains and picks the most common. It says calls with several external domains can be attributed imperfectly and that you cannot override the company by hand. In its Team Edition section it describes clicking a company logo on the Team Calls tab to see all calls with that company, with the attendees listed alongside.

The calls an invite based view leaves out

Go through a real account and count the conversations that shaped it. Some of them never had the client on the invite.

The internal call where your team agreed the discount ceiling before the renewal. The call with your own lawyer about their contract. The Monday review where someone said the client's champion is leaving. None of these has an attendee from the client's domain, so a view keyed on attendees will not list them, even though they hold the decisions you will be held to.

The other gaps are smaller but common. A founder who books calls from a personal Gmail address has no company domain to match. A call that started from a quick link instead of the calendar event is missing from Granola's view by its own rules. A call with the client and their agency has two external domains, which Fathom says can be attributed imperfectly, with no way to fix it by hand.

What Driffle does instead, and where it falls short

Driffle finds companies in what was said. After a meeting, the names of people and companies discussed are pulled from the transcript into a private map of your work, kept per user. A company you talked about in an internal call gets that call on its page, whether or not anyone from the company was there.

Open a company in the Companies view and you see the people Driffle has linked to it, its recent meetings, how often it has been mentioned and when it was last seen, plus a notes pad that says "Write anything you want to remember about this company." You can sort the list by Most mentioned or Last seen. Each company carries a confidence label, and a low one reads "Driffle is unsure" so you know to check it.

The limits are real. You cannot add a company yourself; the button says "Companies can't be added yet. Driffle discovers them from your meetings." The page lists the ten most recent meetings, so for older history you ask Driffle a question across all your meetings and check the cited meetings it answers from. A company mentioned in passing can collect a meeting that was not really about it, and a client referred to by two different names can appear twice; there is no merge button on the screen yet. Driffle is a direct download for Apple Silicon Macs, captures without a bot, and processes your meetings in the cloud.

A five minute check before you rely on it

Pick one client you have worked with for at least three months. From your calendar and memory, list every conversation that shaped the account: calls with them, internal prep calls, calls with their agency or your lawyer. Then open that client's page in the tool you are trialling and count how many of your list are there.

If the internal calls are missing, the view is keyed on the invite, and you will need folders or tags to fill the gap by hand. Then ask the tool one question you would really ask before a renewal, such as what you promised them last quarter, and check that every line of the answer points to a specific meeting.

If you want a client's history to include the conversations they were not in, Driffle is available for Apple Silicon Macs at driffle.ai/download.

FAQ

Does Granola group meetings by company?

Yes. Granola's People and Companies views list notes by person and company. Its help page says they are built from the attendee list of the calendar event you started the note from, so meetings without that client on the invite, or notes not started from a calendar event, do not appear.

How does Fathom know which company a call is with?

Fathom's help center says it uses attendee email domains: the external organizer first, then external attendees, then the most common guest domain. It says calls with several external domains can be attributed imperfectly and that there is no manual override in the app.

Will internal meetings about a client show up on the client's page?

Not in a view built from invite attendees, because no one from the client was invited. Driffle's Companies view is built from what was said in the meeting, so an internal call where the client was discussed can appear on its page.

Can I add a client manually in Driffle?

Not yet. Driffle discovers companies from your meetings, and the add button is disabled until manual creation exists. You can keep your own notes on a company's page, and the page shows a confidence label so you can tell when Driffle is unsure.

Can teammates see my Companies view in Driffle?

The map of people and companies Driffle builds from your meetings is stored per user and is private to you. It runs on Apple Silicon Macs, with processing in the cloud.

Never lose the thread of a meeting again.

Driffle keeps the decisions, owners, and context from every conversation searchable when work resumes.
